The full Player of the Year award had been cancelled two weeks earlier by the City board following a "rubbish season."
Syers was injured in the second match of the 2011-12 season, a 2-3 defeat against Leeds United in the Carling Cup; it was announced that he would be out of action for 10-12 weeks.
