in July 1989 for £50,000. Here, he helped them to promotion to the top flight in his first season. He played 107 games over four-and-a-half years at Bramall Lane
before leaving in January 1994 to sign for Watford

However, the defender managed just 16 games over his two seasons with the Hornets as injuries took their toll. He was given a free transfer when Watford were relegated to the third tier in 1996, and he joined Colchester United
. He played 11 times over the course of eight months with the club before retiring through injury in March 1997.
Despite leaving Sheffield United
over ten years ago, he still lines up in the red and white stripes when he plays for the Blades' Masters team.
