David Forrester

David Michael Forrester FRSA (22 June 1944) is a British consultant and former civil servant.
He was born to Reginald and Minnie Forrester and educated at St. Paul’s School before matriculating to King's College, Cambridge
, where he gained a first class BA in 1966 followed by an MA. He was an inaugural Kennedy Scholar
and attended Harvard University
before returning to the United Kingdom, where he joined the Department of Education and Science (DES) in 1967.
From 1971 he worked as a private secretary to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the department before his promotion to Principal in 1972. In 1976 he transferred to HM Treasury
, where he worked for two years before returning to the Department of Education and Science as an assistant secretary. He transferred to the Department of Trade and Industry in 1985 to fulfil the same duties before moving back to the DES in 1988, this time as an Under Secretary. In 1994 he became head of Further Education, and in 1995 he was made Director of Further Education and Youth Training, a position he left in 2001. He currently serves as a governor of City and Islington College
and works as an independent consultant.
