David G. Greenfield is an American
attorney
and a member of the New York City Council
representing the 44th council district, which comprises the neighborhoods of Bensonhurst, Boro Park, and Midwood in Brooklyn, New York. Greenfield is the founding director and counsel of TEACH NYS and prior to his election served as the executive vice president of the Sephardic Community Federation. Greenfield is a long-time education advocate who advocates for increased government funding for public and private (Yeshivas and Catholic) schools. As Director & Counsel of TEACH NYS, Greenfield organized state-wide advocacy campaigns that resulted in parents receiving tax breaks and private schools receiving more government assistance. Greenfield served as deputy director of finance in Senator Joseph Lieberman’s 2004 presidential campaign. Prior to that, he had a stint as chief of staff to Assemblyman Dov Hikind

, Joe Lazar. Hikind did just about everything in his power to help Joe Lazar including, allegedly, using $30,000 of Hikind's own campaign funds to assist Lazar's candidacy in possible violation of New York City's strict campaign finance laws.
Greenfield is also a political strategist and analyst. He has appeared as a commentator on many national news shows including Fox & Friends
and is a frequent political commentator in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal among other national newspapers. Greenfield also hosts a popular weekly audio show Inside Politics on the orthodox-Jewish news site Yeshiva World News

David Greenfield recently issued letters to City officials complaining about the parking ticket enforcement blitz that targeted his district in Brooklyn. After those letter's were received, the Department of Finance agreed to dismiss those parking tickets.
David Greenfield is Orthodox Jewish and prays in Landau's Synagogue in Midwood, Brooklyn. He is a family man who juggles politics along with his growing family. Due to his religious beliefs, Greenfield was the only member of the City Council to vote against an August 2010 bill that required the City Clerks office to post on its Web site, and hand out at its office, information on where exactly in the U.S. and the world same sex couples are able to get married.
