Lewis A. Fidler is a New York City Council
man. In January 2002, he began his first term as Councilman for the 46th District in New York City

As a Freshman Council Member, Fidler was selected by then Council Speaker Gifford Miller
to serve as Chairperson of the Youth Services Committee, a committee that he continues to lead until this day. He was also appointed to a position on the Council leadership team as Assistant Majority Leader
by Council Speaker Christine Quinn.
Fidler also serves on the Finance, Rules, Housing and Buildings and State and Federal Legislation Committees. He has also been a Democratic State Committeeman since 1992.
In 1992 he was campaign manager for NYC Councilman Sal Albanese in a failed attempt to unseat Congresswoman Susan Molinari
in a year Democrats retook the White House. Additionally, Fidler served as campaign manager for the successful campaign of Brooklyn District Attorney Charles J. Hynes
.
Fidler attended New York City schools PS 208, JHS 285 and Tilden High School. He received a B.A.
from SUNY Albany in 1975, and a J.D.
from NYU School of Law in 1978. He was admitted to the New York State Bar Association
in 1979. Since 1983, Fidler has been a partner in the firm of Roberts and Fidler PC. He lives in his district with his wife, Robin and sons, Max and Harry.
In the most recent 2009 election cycle, in November 2009, Fidler faced only token opposition from a virtually unknown Republican candidate who he beat with 79.2 percent of the vote.
