David Hay is the Deputy Mayor of Auckland City
Council (1991–1998, 2001–2004 and 2007-) for the Citizens & Ratepayers ticket. He is a former Mayor of Mt Roskill Borough Council, and a former Auckland Regional Council
politician (2004–2007).
Hay is the son of Keith Hay
, a former Mayor of Mt Roskill Borough Council, and is a director of the company founded by his father, Keith Hay Homes, a prominent New Zealand small home construction company.
Hay is known for the advocacy of Christian conservative values, and has been opposed to controversial events in Auckland City politics such as council funding for the Hero Parade
