David McClain became president of the University of Hawaii System in March 2006.

McClain served as vice president of academia for the system for a period of one year from 2003 to 2004. He also served as a dean of the UH Manoa College of Business from 2000 to 2003.
McClain was born in Las Vegas(1948) and is the son of American parents.
