David Ray Stephens

David Ray Stephens is an independent songwriter, recording artist and record producer based in Camarillo, CA.
A 1984 graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Percussion Performance, Stephens displayed an early prodigy for the drums and piano before branching out to guitar, bass, electronic keyboards and other instruments during high school. Though Stephens is an exceptional vocalist possessing an extended baritenor
range; his original recorded efforts in the early 1980s were tapped mainly to help showcase the vocal talents of his then-girlfriend (later first wife) when her singing came to the notice of a California agent.
After two albums, the pair later divorced without securing a major-label contract.
Stephens then played in several local bands and produced collections of original music, but it is his recent work which is most notable, characterized by a strong MOR rock intuition which includes forays into techno-pop, alternative-grunge and hybrid musical constructions. His 2005 disc This is What brings many of these styles together in a cohesive fashion, and his 2010 release Invisible resulted in additional notice for his songwriting, vocal prowess, continued musical growth and exceptional musicianship.
