David Sears

David Sears II was a prominent 19th century Boston philanthropist, merchant and landowner. He developed a substantial part of nearby Brookline, Massachusetts
, including building the Christ's Church in Longwood, and was associated in the erection of the St Paul's Cathedral
. In addition, Sears purchased some 200 acre (0.809372 km²), which was later to become the town of Longwood.
Sears also served as a Massachusetts Representative and Senator on and off between the years of 1816 and 1851.
His former Beacon Hill
home is now the location of the Somerset Club
