Format

Each episode deals with three stories (four in each of the three the mini-series episodes) centered around the theme of each episode, through re-enactments, The stories are narrated by Lynnanne Zager (Marsha Crenshaw in the mini-series). Surviving family and friends of the deceased (and of the killers' family and friends, occasionally), reporters and authors who dealt with the story, and the law enforcement officials involved (police, district attorneys) augment the narration.
