– helping to build their foundations as one of the UK’s brightest rock group. New Musical Express Magazine
has described them as:
"A quintet reeking of cheap leather and dirty liquor… Slickly produced gargantuan riffs, mixed with squealing solos, growls, cackles and power drums!"
Micky Satiar, born 31 August 1981 in Rossendale, Lancashire, England - Vocalist.
Having grown up through the 1980s he has cited Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Skid Row and Johnny Cash as his main influences. Bringing those influences into the 21st century he formed bands in different guises with life-long friend Adam Smethurst as singer and guitarist since 1994. Micky Satiar has an uncommon passion for music and a never surrender attitude to life, truly living by the saying “Life is about the journey, not the destination”
Adam Smethurst, born 8 November 1980 in Rossendale, Lancashire, England - Lead Guitarist.
Born in the same hospital and living on the same street as Micky, made the guitarist and vocalist inseparable. Starting his first band, comically named "Death Maiden" illustrates his early love for heavy metal. Coupled with Adam’s shared love for the blues with his father, saw a childhood of listening to B.B King, Jimmy Reed, ZZ Top, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton –so picking up a Les Paul Standard on his 10th birthday was just the beginning.
Benj Ashmead, born 24 October 1985 in Rossendale, Lancashire, England - Drummer.
Benj started to make music with Micky and Adam at the age of 12, he had to sneak himself into rock clubs for the chance to release his teenage angst onto any drum-kit he could get behind. The untimely loss of his father and brother, sparked a brotherly bond between his band members; Benj often comments “My band mates are my family – don’t fuck with them because I will never let it lie”
Stew Milton, born 27 February 1985 in Bury, Lancashire, England - Rhythm Guitarist.
After meeting Benj on a sound engineering course, he was invited to jam with Micky and Adam, with Benj on drums. The connection was instant and his zeal for rock n roll instantly gelled. A self confessed junky for rock n roll – Stew loves every moment as his last.
Ben Grimsley, born 8 December 1987 in Manchester, England - Bassist.
Ben took the opportunity to audition for Dear Superstar at the end of 2010 and it was instantly apparently that he was a true “Superstar”. He is the thunderous new backbone of Dear Superstar.
Dear Superstar again toured in support of Heartless in 2009 supporting Papa Roach on the sold-out tour, were quickly confirmed to appear at the Download Festival 2009 which was swiftly followed by a tour with Buckcherry culminating in an end-of-tour appearance at the Sonisphere festival.
They have also since completed a double legged tour over winter 2009/2010 with Heavens Basement, a first headline tour during summer 2010 and have supported bands such as Hellyeah! and The Damned Things.
Their first single was "Live Love Lie" which has been made available on Spotify
. Live Love Lie featured Bullet for My Valentine's bassist and backing vocalist Jason James, who screamed in the song. Their second single was Brothers in Blood. Both songs have music videos and have been played on the likes of Scuzz and Kerrang.
They are currently recording Damned Religion in the Summer of 2010/2011, at their own studios (Superstar Studios, Bury), to be released in March 2011. This album is the follow-up to Heartless.
