Deb Fischer is a member of the Nebraska Legislature
, representing a district in the north-central portion of the state.
Fischer was born in Lincoln, Nebraska
and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1988 with a B.S. in education. She is a member of many agricultural organizations including AgBuilders of Nebraska, Nebraska Cattlemen, Nebraska Farm Bureau, and Sandhills Cattlemen Association.
Before her election to the Legislature, Fischer was a Commissioner on the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Post-Secondary Education. She also served on the Valentine Rural High School Board of Education, the Nebraska School Finance Review Committee, the Nebraska Agricultural Leadership Council, and the University of Nebraska President's Advisory Council. She was President of the Nebraska Association of School Boards.
Fischer is a 2005 BIILD Fellow with the Bowhay Institute, a 1991 Kellogg Fellow and a 1988 Nebraska LEAD Fellow.
Fischer and her husband, Bruce Fischer, ranch near Valentine, Nebraska
with their three sons Adam, Morgan and Luke. Her family has been recognized for their conservation and environmental stewardship, receiving awards from a number of organizations.

Fischer is an Executive Committee member of the Midwestern Legislative Council and also serves as Chair of the MLC Energy Committee. She is a former Executive Committee member of the National Conference of State Legislatures.
