During the preparation for the 2008–2009 season he broke his left leg fibula and, shortly there-after, his mother died which depressed him. He made his comeback from injury on October 25, 2008, when he joined the Turkish Super League game against Bursaspor
at the 77th minute to substitute Semih Şentürk
