Origin of the name
The name Dent-De-Leone is derived from the dandelion, a common plant often cooked during the Social Pasta events created by Martino Gamper and Åbäke. Some of these projects are detailed in the book Social Pasta. The English name dandelion is a corruption of the French dent de lion meaning "lion's tooth", referring to the coarsely toothed leaves. In modern French the plant is named pissenlit, and was called "piss-a-bed" previous to its current naming in English. These names refer to the strong diuretic effect of the roots of the herb.Awards and Publications
