The station came into existence when the London and Greenwich Railway

Deptford station was closed between 1915 and 1926. The original station building was demolished by the Southern Railway

and the current station building constructed in its place.

A new station building is under construction and completion is expected by mid 2012; the new station will be fully accessible. The current station building will then be demolished.
