Diepflingen gained some fame during the separation of Basel-Country from Basel-City
by putting itself directly under federal rule, thus proclaiming the Republic Diepflingen. The Swiss Diet (Tagsatzung
), however, didn't accept this, and after only 9 days the Republic was renounced and Diepflingen joined Basel-Country
.
