, Koemdzhiev started his career with the Pirin youth team. He made his professional debut in the 1997–98 season and became a first team regular the following season. In 2001 Koemdzhiev transferred to Spartak Pleven, but one year later the team relegated in second division and he signed with Marek Dupnitsa.
