It was launched in July 1995, replacing the Quest documetary channel launched in April 1995 by XYZ.
Since the renaming of Travel & Adventure to Travel & Living, much of the travel genre programming (including first run series) has been removed from the Channel. On 29 March 2009 Discovery rebranded in line with Discovery US, complete with new IDs and the slogan 'The World Is Just Awesome.'
