Bain has two daughters, Laurie Bain Wilson (who is also a writer and author) and Pamela Bain Shippee (who is a teacher), and four grandsons, Alexander Bain Wilson, Zachary Shippee, Jake Shippee, and Luke Shippee. Bain's great-grandfather, Cornelius (Con) Daily was a major league baseball player.
