Dorsal metacarpal arteries
Encyclopedia
Most of the dorsal metacarpal arteries arise from the dorsal carpal arch and run downward on the second, third, and fourth dorsal interossei of the hand
and bifurcate into the dorsal digital arteries
. Near their origin, they anastomose with the deep palmar arch
by perforating arteries. They also anastomose with common palmar digital arteries (from the superficial palmar arch
), also via perforating arteries.
The first dorsal metacarpal artery arises directly from the radial artery
before it crosses through the two heads of the first dorsal interosseous muscle
.
Dorsal interossei of the hand
The dorsal interossei of the hand are muscles that occupy the space between the metacarpals.-Structure:There are four dorsal interossei in each hand...

Dorsal digital arteries
Dorsal digital arteries arise from the bifurcation of dorsal metacarpal arteries. They travel along the sides and dorsal aspects of the phalanges of the middle finger, ring finger, and little finger...

Deep palmar arch
The deep palmar arch is an arterial network found in the palm. It is usually formed mainly from the terminal part of the radial artery, with the ulnar artery contributing via its deep palmar branch...

Superficial palmar arch
The superficial palmar arch is formed predominantly by the ulnar artery, with a contribution from the superficial palmar branch of the radial artery...
), also via perforating arteries.

Radial artery
In human anatomy, the radial artery is the main blood vessel, with oxygenated blood, of the lateral aspect of the forearm.-Course:The radial artery arises from the bifurcation of the brachial artery in the cubital fossa. It runs distally on the anterior part of the forearm...
