Scott, who is 6'3" and weighs 180 lbs, was rated by Scout.com as the 5th best shooting guard in the country for the Class of 2013, and passed up schools like Memphis, West Virginia and UConn to attend UMiami. In his freshman year, the five star recruit averaged 9.7 ppg and 3.5 apg, and also lead them to the ACC Championship semi-finals, beating favorites Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. He also made the ACC All-Rookie team.
