 event. The tournament typically featured the top 16 bowlers from each organization, and has been dominated by PBA Tour professionals since 1989. The last JPBA bowler to win the event was Takeo Sakai in 1988.

The tournament celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010. The 2010 Dydo Japan Cup featured a starting field of 144 bowlers, which included JPBA members from Japan and South Korea, PBA members, and Japanese amateurs.

2010 tournament

The tournament was held April 22 to April 25 at Tokyo Port Bowl in Tokyo, Japan. 144 men, consisting of members of the PBA and JPBA, made up the event's field. Friday consisted of two qualifying rounds, with the top 48 bowlers by total pinfall advancing to single elimination, best-of-seven match play. Bowlers qualifying 1st through 16th earned a bye into the Round of 32. Bowlers qualifying 17th through 48th competed in Saturday's initial round, which was followed by the Round of 32 and Round of 16. This shrunk the field down to eight bowlers, who all advanced to the televised finals on Sunday.
