East 105th Street Station was originally built in 1906 as a replacement for a former station along a steam dummy
line known as the Brooklyn and Rockaway Beach Railroad. It has three tracks and a single island platform
. The waiting area above the platform affords picturesque views of the trains and tracks. At the very end of this station, there was formerly a gate-protected level crossing
, the only one in the New York City Subway system. It was eliminated in 1973.
