. Platted in 1900, the name is locational as the village is east of Oolitic.

East Oolitic was originally called Spien Kopj, presumably for the bater in the Boer War during 1880-1881 and 1899-1902. At one time a sign affixed to the bridge linking East Oolitic and Oolitic, proudly hailed the community as "Spien Kopj".

The community of East Oolitic is bound together by its geographical constraints and proud heritage, and has been the home of many generations of "Spien Kopjers" whose off-spring still live in the community today. The local residents maintain fairly private lives, however are tight knit to each other in the time of need. The residents of East Oolitic are usually private and not overly smitten to outsider's ways.

The community once touted an elementary school and a small grocery (both were closed in the early 1960s). Since the mid 1980s, the local children have attended Dollens Elementary, Oolitic Middle School, and Bedford North Lawrence High School.

East Oolitc Community Church (Formerly East Oolitic General Baptist Church) has served the residents of East Oolitic and surrounding communities for over 60 years.
