He was a judge at the European Court of Human Rights
from 1978 to 1986.
He is a member of the Academic Council of the European Law Research Center and of Harvard University Law School (1991).
He is the author of "Fervor de Borges" where the Anglo-Spanish intellectual poet is praised as the most important author since Cervantes.
