Encyclopedia
The Dutch Eerste Divisie
in the 1961/1962 season was contested by 36 teams. It was the last time the Eerste Divisie-teams were divided in two groups, next season there would only be one consisting of sixteen teams. This meant a lot of teams would relegate to the Tweede Divisie
this year. Heracles
won the championship after a play-off against Fortuna Vlaardingen
and was also the only team that would be promoted to the eredivisie.
