was that of the General People's Congress under the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, held in March 2010.
Currently, the Transitional National Council is in the process of organizing Libya's recovery from the 2011 Libyan civil war
and has pledged to organize democratic elections by April 2012.
Libya's parliament consisted of a unicameral General People's Congress. Its members were elected indirectly through a hierarchy of people's committees.
Suffrage was 18 years of age; universal and technically compulsory.
