Streams, springs, and settlements were named for early settlers, or after incidents that occurred during pioneer days.
The spikes in horns of deer invariably are even in number. One day when one of the Huddleston boys killed a buck with eleven prongs or points on his horns as the deer was swimming the river above Thomasville, Mo. The settlers immediately named the stream Eleven Points. It is still known by this name today.
