In the 1924 Olympics she was sixth in the 100 m backstroke event
.
Four years later in 1928 she won two silver medals, in the 4×100 m freestyle relay event and in the 100 m backstroke event.
In the 1930 Empire Games she won a silver medal in the 100 yd freestyle and a bronze medal in the 200 yd breaststroke. As a member of the Scottish relay team she won her second bronze medal in the 4×100 yards freestyle competition.
