Elton John videography
Encyclopedia
Since before the start of MTV
, Elton John
has been making promotional music videos, beginning early in his career with "Your Song
". Music videos in the 1970s were not quite common and Elton made only a few during that decade. It wasn't until he teamed with director Russell Mulcahy
to film a music video album entitled Visions- that included every song off of his 1981 album The Fox
- that Elton steadfastly filmed music videos for nearly every single in his long career. Elton is usually featured in each of his videos, despite publicly complaining that he "loathes them", but beginning in 2001 Elton began appearing less and less in his own videos, sometimes opting to have other actors, such famous names as Justin Timberlake
and Robert Downey, Jr, lip-synch the lyrics.
