Emil Corsillo Inc set up by Emil Corsillo. Emil was the originator of the mannequin wig in the 1940s. The wigs were made from Nylon which is created using coal, air and water.
On the 6th of September 1950 Emil A. Corsillo filed for a Patent for his wigs particularly, the reinforced wig foundation frames (where the fake hair was attached). He was issued with Patent number: 2661749 on December 1953
Emil was an Italian immigrant the married Elsie Koch and together they formed the famous Hollywood company that for close to 50 years supplied the entertainment industry in Hollywood and the world with toupees, headpieces, wigs, and manufactured mannequin wigs. Most of the Hollywood actors that would require a toupee were clients of the company. Among its notables were Bozo the Clown
, Harpo Marx, Brian don Levee, Hal Fishman, and many more.
Emil died in 1967, but the company continued on into the 80's when it was closed. The decline was contributed to new technologies, imports, and the general decline of the large scale Hollywood productions that used the product.
