. When she was 7 she moved to Los Angeles
with her French-Iranian parents. At the age of 13 they moved to France
where she finished school and later she went to London
to work as an actor at the London Theatre. Eventually, she came back to Germany
to study film direction
at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin
.
Her first feature-length film Molly's Way which was—like her 2011 movie Töte mich—co-authored by Esther Bernstorff received an advancement award at the Filmfest München (film festival Munich
) in 2005 for best script and the award for the best movie at the Filmfestival Türkei

in Nürnberg as well as several other awards. Her second feature-length film Das Fremde in mir which deals with a young mother having postnatal depression also received several awards and was screened at the Cannes Film Festival
. She then got a scholarship from the Cinéfondation

which she used for her next movie Töte mich.
