Emma Maree Urquhart is a Scottish
writer and Computer Engineer.
Inverness before moving to Stornoway
with her family, returning to Inverness for school at an early age. At school, she developed a fondness for reading and of creative writing also excelling at maths. Doing most of her work on school PCs and transporting them with floppy disks.
After some early attempts at comedic science fiction
, her first attempt at novel writing was a science fiction comedy novel written for classmates, before a "scribbled paragraph" became Dragon Tamers
, a 60,000 word novella
written in six months.
In 2003, Dragon Tamers was published by Aultbea Publishing. Aided by a media caught off-guard by a 13-year-old publishing a book, the novel sold well. Achieving success in the UK and abroad, requiring a second print run of 50,000 copies after the first run of 1,000 sold out. in 2003 a sequel (Dragon Tamers 2: Digital Tempest) was released.
During autumn 2006, the publisher pulled promotion of the sequel, putting interest instead in other child stars.
Miss Urquhart currently lives in Nairn

with her fiancé.
