Enilda Alberta was named after Lydia Adline Brooks who was born in Peel Twp. Wellington Co. Ontario Dec 8 1869. She married Francis Maitland and had two sons. Then Francis died and so did one son. She was unable to care for her remaining son so her sister adopted him. After having travelled to Hull Twp. Sioux Co. Iowa when her mother remarried after the death of her father she married and had two children but the marriage did not work out and they divorced and she married Joseph Tompkins and they settled in Alberta. The town was named after her middle name spelled backwards. She died April 24, 1955 South Burnaby B.C.
