During lunch, Lee reveals that Dawn had always said the most important quality she looks for in a man is a good sense of humour, though Dawn (in Tim's presence) suddenly stated that it was "rugged good looks." This inspires Tim to break up with Rachel. Neil offers David’s job to Gareth and he accepts it.

Ray and Jude, who are from Cooper and Webb looking for motivational speakers, drop by David's office to inform him that they won’t be using him again since he didn’t give them what they were looking for. David is angered by this news and kicks them out of his office, all in front of the reporter from Inside Paper.

Tim hears that Dawn and her fiancé are leaving and is shocked when she tells him that they will be gone for six months. While Tim is being interviewed, he takes a final drastic step to put his heart on the line with Dawn, so he rushes off to her as he is turning off his microphone. Tim is seen through a window in a room talking with Dawn, and Dawn seems to reject Tim, and they both hug. When he comes back to his desk and turns the mic back on, he says, “Err, she said no, by the way.”

 come to give David the details of his redundancy package, David swallows his pride and makes an unsuccessful yet solemn and emotional plea to be allowed to keep his job. Brent is then interviewed for the last time in his office, talking about a quote about life philosophised by Dolly Parton
