Epping Green consisted in the main of wooden cottages built along a quiet country road, which is now a busy route from Harlow to Epping.

Epping Green has now grown substantially with about 300 houses, although it still retains a certain village atmosphere, as there are quite a few lifelong residents and a good community spirit still exists.

The village now has no shops but still retains two popular pubs within 50 yards of each other.

Epping Green has the traditional village pond which in fact was originally the blacksmiths cooling pond, and is surrounded by beautiful countryside.

There are ancient market routes and cattle drovers lanes, which were main routes from as far afield as Wales and Norfolk.

The views from the Church road and from the top of the common towards London are outstanding, the village is hugely popular with commuters as it is unique, on the one hand in the country but only a few miles from the bright lights of London.

Public transport is limited, but the village is connected to Epping
