The Erie Invaders was a 2000 expansion team of the defunct Indoor Football League. The Invaders played their home games at the Louis J. Tullio Arena
in Erie, Pennsylvania
. They made the playoffs in their inaugural year under Head Coach and General Manager Gary Tufford. Just like the IFL, the Invaders ceased operations entirely when the league was bought out by the new arena football 2 league. The IFL however did almost reach 30 teams in all almost spanning the country in as little as two years.
The city of Erie would be without an arena football team until 2005, with the arrival of the Erie Freeze
