It is located in both Greater Oporto (Porto) and GAM of Oporto ( Porto Metropolitan Area ).
The current Mayor is José Barbosa Mota, elected by the Socialist Party

The municipal holiday is June 16. It is one of the smallest municipalities in Portugal. Until 1899, it was part of the Santa Maria da Feira Municipality.
