station that will serve the north of the city, with services on the AVE
Madrid-Barcelona high-speed rail line
as well as regular international, regional and commuter trains of Rodalies Barcelona
. It is located in the Sagrera neighbourhood, in the Sant Andreu
district of Barcelona
. The main architect in charge of the project is Frank Gehry
.
It will be one out of two AVE
stations in Barcelona, with Estació de Sants in the south, and Sagrera in the north. It is currently under construction with funds from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Generalitat de Catalunya
and the Barcelona City Council. A transformation of the area will take place as well, as it is made up of large industrial surfaces, some of which are no longer used. Its name is sometimes displayed as Sagrera | TAV to avoid confusion with a similarly named metro station Intercanviador de Sagrera-Meridiana. TAV is short for Tren d'alta velocitat ("high-speed train").
