Europa Editions is a publishing company founded in 2005 by husband and wife Sandro Ferri and Sandra Ozzola Ferri, who also founded the Italian publisher Edizioni E/O. The New York-based Europa Editions specializes in bringing works by European writers to American readers. Europa publishes "literary fiction, high-end mystery and noir, children's illustrated fiction, narrative non-fiction, and memoir", with roughly two-thirds of its titles as works in translation.
The Days of Abandonment by Elena Ferrante
and translated by Ann Goldstein was Europa Editions' first book, published in 2005. The Elegance of the Hedgehog
by Muriel Barbery and translated by Alison Anderson gave Europa its first best seller in 2008. Europa published its 100th book in 2011, The Hottest Dishes of the Tartar Cuisine by Alina Bronsky and translated by Tim Mohr. The company puts out about 20 titles a year.
All Europa Editions publications are released in trade paperback format, maintaining uniformity through "a distinctive look for all its titles, with French flaps, a consistent font on the book spines and a logo of a stork that appears with the publisher's name on the front of each volume".
