European Research and Education Collaboration with Asia

The European Research and Education Collaboration with Asia (EURECA) project, aims to establish an alliance in research and education between European and Asian countries by identifying major areas of co-operation between them. This project is funded by the European commission and the consortium comprises 16 major educational institutes which includes 9 from Europe and 7 from Asia. The programme is managed by the Mälardalen University, Sweden.

Students who take part in this programme are expected to excel in future, globally. Partners of the consortium have special requirements in the areas of study such as Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business studies and Management Sciences. They will pay special attention to the mobility needs in the identified thematic fields. Sustainable development, Urban and Regional Planning, Architecture, and Disaster Management are given their due recognition.

  • Enabling parts of the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral study programmes in thematic areas of study.
  • Assimilation of best practices of EU-Partners in management, curricula development, research, innovations and quality management to the Asian partners.
  • Joint development of curriculum and delivery of few courses in pilot projects.
  • Joint recognition of diplomas and other qualifications.
  • Development of joint degree programs.
  • Establishment of at least one Doctoral school in a selected thematic area.
  • Conducting a summer school on a relevant theme with joint participation.
  • Providing guidance from an EU perspective and European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)
  • Support in the creation of specialised labs, and centres of excellence
  • Support and guidance in innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Dissemination of the findings and successes of this partnership
  • Sustainability of efforts and joint future projects.
