In 2003–04, as Rio Ave had just been promoted to the top level, Evandro netted 15 goals in 26 contests, notably two in a 4–0 home routing of Sporting Clube de Portugal and another in a 1–1 home draw against S.L. Benfica, helping the side overachieve for a seventh place.
From 2008–10, he only appeared in 33 league matches combined - only six in the latter top division season - and did not manage to find the net. After one full decade at the service of the same team, Evandro retired from football at the age of 36.
