Everyman Group is a cinema company in the United Kingdom
. The company was founded in 2000 when a group of local investors saved the then under threat Everyman Cinema (dating back to 1933). The group owns around eight cinemas predominantly within the South East of England including locations in London.
In 2008 the Everyman Group acquired rival Screen Cinemas to further extend its list of locations. Following the acquisition, a number of cinemas have or are due to be refurbished. Those which have been refurbished already include Reigate, Belsize Park, Baker Street and the Islington-based Screen on the Green. Since the takeover the company has become significantly more competitive and operates alike the large players in the industry.
Unlike other cinema chains, the groups focuses on providing a friendly, comfortable and enjoyable experience through smaller cinemas and each location has characteristics which vary substantially.
The group are currently in the process of extending their operating area across the UK and as a result they are opening cinemas in Northern England
. The first of these will be is due to open in Leeds
in 2013 as part of the Trinity Leeds development in the city centre.
Everyman's cinemas can vary from only having one single screen to four screens. A small number of these can cater for audiences seeking to view films in 3D.
