. Competitors perform in many different sports, categories and styles, trying to win bronze, silver and gold medals, as well as prizes and money. In addition to the competitions there are instructional clinics held in each of the sports in which trainers instruct new-comers on basics of the sport. Vital to the experience of the Extremity Games is the live music, interactive exhibit area, and featured demonstration sports that are operating concurrently with the competitions.

Organized to raise awareness of the abilities of people with limb loss or limb difference, Extremity Games provides the opportunity for athletes to compete peer-to-peer, limb loss-to-limb loss, while competing for cash and other prizes. Extremity Games hosts athletes primarily from across the US and several athletes from around the world. Extremity Games, in partnership with Adaptive Action Sports, serves as the qualifier to the ESPN® Summer X Games Super X Adaptive Finals motocross competition. Riders compete at Extremity Games for an invitation to Summer X Games. The Super X Adaptive Finals are televised on ESPN in late July/early August.

World Wakeboard Association (WWA) named Extremity Games (eXG) as the qualifier for the new Adaptive Standing and Adaptive Sit-Boarding Divisions for the 2011 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships. http://www.extremitygames.com/pdf/WWA_ExGQualifier.pdf "The WWA is looking forward to our new partnership with Extremity Games and expanding our divisions at the 2011 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships," comments WWA President Shannon Starling, "The level of wakeboarding that the riders in both of our two new adaptive divisions are able to accomplish is fascinating."
