FC Carlow is a League of Ireland

. The club was founded in 2008 and first competed as an U20s team in the League Of Ireland. As a result of the teams success in the competition, the following year, Carlow were granted a senior licence. FC Carlow's philosophy is to give talented and committed footballers from the south east an opportunity to play at a national level.
Carlow endured a tough debut campaign in the A Championship, finishing in eighth place. FC Carlow enjoyed a much better second season, finishing fourth, just missing out on a promotion place to Cobh Ramblers F.C.
In the same season, the Barrowsiders also reached the 3rd round of the FAI Cup
