Among the team's achievements are a final in the Bulgarian championship in 1937, an A PFG (top division) fourth place in 1975 and Bulgarian Cup
finals in 1938, 1939, 1941 and 1962. Dunav Rousse also participated in the UEFA Cup
in 1975–76, when they were eliminated by A.S. Roma
after a 2–0 defeat in Rome
and a memorable 1–0 win over the Italian team in Rousse.

, won the Cup of the Amateur League in 2003–04, the same year they returned to the B PFG after a hiatus in the amateur divisions and financial problems since the team were relegated from the A PFG in 1991.
From 5 January 2006 until 2 October, they were managed by the noted specialist Ferario Spasov
and have acquired some well-known footballers and loaned talented PFC Litex Lovech
youngsters in an attempt to again reach the A PFG.
The season 2009–10 was very controversial and the dream of reaching A PFG
, which is the highest level of the Bulgarian football almost became a reality. Dunav finished the fall season in 1st place, leaving behind them the teams of Kaliakra Kavarna
and Nesebar
. The spring season started very well and the team was in a row with a couple of very significant wins, but they won only one game in their last 7 matches. However some of the players had marked their potential and showed the fans that in the next season , Dunav can really promote to "A" PFG.
The new season 2010–11 started not so well for Dunav. The team was left by some of their good players, because of the financial crisis in the team. The club has withdrawn from B PFG in February 2011 for a big finance debt and was dissolved.
The fan club "Dunav Forever" was founded in 31 March 2000 and is the only official fan club of FC Dunav for now. Since that date the number of members grows constantly and everybody is welcome to join the faithful fan sector at a home game in the Gradski stadium in Rousse
. A lot of fan articles have been made by the club over the years. Some of the club members take also part in different tournaments with other fan clubs and represent "Dunav Forever". The fans of Dunav are known for their faith and real love in the game and the team, supporting it in the lowest divisions of Bulgaria during the worst time in history.
