, but despite a wealth of home grown talent and some well known signings Tikveš never broke into the top four and therefore failed to quialify for European competition.
With the arrival of the new century came the darkest days in the club's existence, in season 2000/01 Tikveš were for the very first time relegated from the Macedonian First League
, they made an immediate return the following season, but after the second relegation in 2003/04 the club fell into serious financial difficulties and shortly afterwards went into bankruptcy. Eventually the club was rejuvenated under the name of GFK Tikveš and since then there have been some more positive signs. In the 2010/11 season Tikveš narrowly missed the chance to be promoted to the Macedonian First League
by losing in the play-off final.

History
Tikveš was founded in December 1930 and is one of the oldest football clubs in Macedonia.1950s
The club made the first notable achievements in the 1950s, during that period the Macedonian Republic League was divided into three divisions (Štip, Bitola, Skopje), at the end of the seasons the winners of each division played in the play-off finals to decide the Macedonian Champion, Tikveš won the Štip Division in 1952 and 1956/57, but on both occasions lost in the play-off finals.1970s
