After this FWA title was declared vacant, it would be merged into the newly revived Heavyweight Championship of the European Union during the title tournament to crown the European Heavyweight Champion being held by the European Wrestling Union promotion. On August 25, 2001 in Bochum, Germany, Britain's Robbie Brookside
would merge the title after finally defeating 5 Star Cory K in the championship decider at the end of the tournament.
