Farlington has approximately 400 girls as students although the Nursery (which opened in September 2008) is co-educational. For the most part, girls attend as day pupils, however Farlington also offers a Boarding House where girls can board from the age of 8, on a full, weekly or occasional basis.
In September 2008 the new courtyard building opened, designed to complement the existing Prep School, it not only houses the co-educational Nursery but also includes further classrooms, a dedicated Prep music room, a multipurpose hall, a kitchen and library. The school also has both sporting and academic facilities, including a sixth form
centre, five science labs, ICT facilities, drama studio, sports hall and an all-weather pitch. Farlington aims to educate "the whole child" by providing a broad and balanced curriculum for all age groups. The Senior School is organised into five faculties, with the aim of encouraging cross-curricular learning. These are the Faculty of Creative and Expressive Arts, the Faculty of Languages, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Curriculum Support. The academic standards are high and girls are encouraged to raise their own expectations of achievement. Farlington's uniform, which includes a kilt, is composed of three colours: dark green, navy blue and white.
Notable Alumni include Samantha Cross, a rising star of academic publishing, Samantha Houghton, an Anthropologist of whom great things are hoped and Alexandra Harris, who won the prestigious Guardian First Book Award 2010 for her book ‘Romantic Moderns – English Writers, Artists and the Imagination from Virginia Woolf to John Piper’.
