as part of its Farm to Market Road System. Although the route was commissioned in 1949, it includes an older former spur route connecting Klondike to SH 24.

in Antioch
and runs south, then east, and then northeast terminating in Cooper
at State Highway 154
and Business State Highway 24-D. Between its termini, the route has major intersections with SH 24 and several Farm to Market Roads. The route passes through Gough and Klondike
and passes along a lake shore and wildlife refuge between Klondike and Cooper.

FM 1528 was designated in 1949 and has undergone no changes to its route description since then. The route incorporated Spur 39 into this highway.Route description
FM 1528 begins along FM 64 at Antioch 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Cooper and passes south to FM 2068 at the former community of Gough. The road then proceeds eastward to SH 24 which it briefly follows before branching off to the south to Klondike.
